First of all, I would like to point out that there are many different types of hedging.
This can lead to confusion about what is conscious - and even more explicitly labeled.
The software has a total of 4 sequences:
Sell Trend
buy trend
buy counter
sell counter
These sequences run independently of each other because they use different strategies.
This means for the software Sell Trend and Sell Counter are two completely different things, and therefore the approach with "how many Level 0" is rather suboptimal to switch double positions on/off.
Although the counters/trend and buy/sell are independent of each other, some settings make these sequences interdependent:
With "Must hedge before double sequences" -> No
If I have a buy trend open, I can immediately afterward - whenever the software would open the buy counter, independent of the hedges or the sell trend.
Since there is no direct connection between Buy and Sell, "Trend Levels before hedging" is also irrelevant because no hedge or sell is forced before the Buy counter is opened.
With "Must hedge before double sequences" -> Yes.
It is meant that if you have a Buy trend, a Sell trend must be opened before the Buy counter can be opened.
With the "Trend level before hedging" -> 2
It means that if I have a Buy Trend open and "must hedging before double sequences" is set to yes, i.e., force the hedge -> the hedge (in this case, Sell Trend) must have at least 2 levels before it is allowed to open the Buy Counter.
This means that the two buy sequences are offset by at least 2 levels and no longer run parallel.
If "Trend Level before hedging" is higher than the max level, in our example (Buy Trend opened), the Buy counter waits until a Sell Trend is opened with a high level, which will never come according to Max Level.
This means that no Buy counter is opened because the condition for this can never occur.
With this setting option, the complete relationship between the sequences can be adjusted.
If you want double positions/sequences directly parallel if you want to offset them (if so, how much) or if you don't want to have any counter sequences at all.
Buy trend and Sell trend can still exist independently of each other at the same time.
Means with the settings:
With "Must hedge before double sequences" -> Yes.
With the "Trend level before hedging" -> (Higher than max level)
